New Fashion Trend

Coming to a runway near you – knitted items that come with the original needles used in the process!

Yeah, the Newington SnB group got a good laugh at me a few weeks ago when I forgot to actually bind-off while doing the three needle bind off. Chris must have been telling another great story…

Webs Tent Sale

I went to the Webs Tent sale yesterday. I originally wasn’t going to go, but it was a rainy day and not much else to do so my brother and I went for a drive. Northampton Mass is about 40 mintues North of where I live. The drive was very pretty now that the spring green is out.

I set 3 limitations for myself:
1) No novelty/ribbon yarn
2) The yarn would have to yield a full garment for under $20
3) The yarn had to be for one of the 8 projects in my notebook.
(A few nights ago I had looked through all of my magazines and books and wrote down yards and gauge for 8 projects I would like to do)

Well… I of course found tons of things that fit into that category so here’s what came home with me:

Webs Purchase – Top View
Webs Purchase – Side View

That’s a ton of yarn – but what’s even more shocking is the total purchase for that picture was $80. Some of it will get donated…

I’m slowly adding to my photo albums.

I took a bunch of pictures last night but they are all blurry. I really need to find a way to hold the camera steadier!

To Do List

I’ve got a lot of finishing tasks to do tonight at the Newington SnB.

Most importantly I need to weave in the ends of the socks so I can get them in the mail!

I also decided to kitchner the shoulder straps of Soleil and then I need to figure out how to do the crochet finishing.

The body of the Princess pullover is done and I’m ready to start working on the sleeves. I’ve only got 3.2 balls of the yarn left so I’m going to try to do the sleeves top down until I run out and hopefully they will be at least 3/4 sleeves. I had originally intended to do this pattern (the orange version) but I couldn’t find a good picture of it, and the yarn seemed to be fighting against the lace part of the pattern so I knit it plain. Here’s a pic of the body from a few days ago

I’ve been very careful with the gague and dimensions on this pullover and hopefully it will be my basic template for the future. I even did the exercise to go through my wardrobe and measure all the store bought garments that are my favorite fits. No more disasters like the fruit-loops and the celtic knot sweaters.

I have decided that this is going to be my last novelty yarn for a long time. I’ve got some sapphire blue alpaca from Elann and the grey tabby alpaca from CT Sheep & Wool next in line. Plus I need to get back to socks and I’ve got the gift/challege from Chris to work on :)

Up and Running again

My ISP installed Image::Magick for me and somehow the Moveable Type database got corrupted so I’ve had to reinstall everything.
No biggie – and I’m glad to be up and running :)
