Peggy Squares

Our SnB group decided to make some Peggy Squares to send to a Katrina Charity. This was perfect timing as I needed some less stressfull projects to work on after the complex sweaters and such of late.
I managed to get 7 mostly plain squares done:

I don’t know the exact origin of the name, but this book has the tell all…
For our project they were 12 inch x 12 inch squares with a 3 stitch garter stitch border.

I didn’t have my camera so Chris took this picture for me which I borrowed and cropped to highlight the squares :)

Durham Fair

Here are the live action photos I promised. I received three blue ribbons and one third place ribbon. The socks have a ‘Special’ ribbon on them which means that I get double the prize money and sweepstakes points for that item. In all I won $25 :)

Fuzzy Dice

Cascading Leaves Socks

By the Sea – Green Stripes

Princess Pullover

Sorry about the poor quality of some of the photos. I’m not sure if my camera/battery is near it’s end of life or if I just can hold it steady anymore.

Giant Pink Bunny

Artists erect giant pink bunny on mountain

An enormous pink bunny has been erected on an Italian mountainside where it will stay for the next 20 years.

The 200-foot-long toy rabbit lies on the side of the 5,000 foot high Colletto Fava mountain in northern Italy’s Piedmont region.

Viennese art group Gelatin designed the giant soft toy and say it was “knitted by dozens of grannies out of pink wool”.

Group member Wolfgang Gantner said: “It’s supposed to make you feel small, like Gulliver. You walk around it and you can’t help but smile.”

And Gelatin members say the bunny is not just for walking around – they are expecting hikers to climb its 20 foot sides and relax on its belly.

The giant rabbit is expected to remain on the mountain side until 2025.

Long Weekend

It was a very long and tiring weekend as I raced to get the final finishing done on my Durham Fair items.

Sadly, the little mitered squares pillow didn’t make the cutoff. It only needed one more seam and I just couldn’t make it :(

I did manage to submit my princess pullover, the green stripes sweater, the cascading leaves socks, and a pair of fuzzy dice.

Since it was down to the wire to get to the drop off point I don’t have any green room pictures. I doubt I would have been able to take any good ones since I was shaking so terribly trying to get the pillow finished. The countdown reminder phone calls from the fair staff added to the pressure, but I was very glad to have them :)

I’ll have live-action photos and pattern links to post after the fair this weekend.
