Upgrade

Well I threw caution to the wind and upgraded the MoveableType version for my blog. On paper it’s a fairly painless process – just copy the new files over the old ones and run a script to do the update. In reality, it’s several hours of work and frustration to figure out why the copy didn’t work, and why the script is generating errors. Then there is the fear factor that the script will wipe out all of the old posts and pictures so an extra hour or so taking a backup is involved.

For the most part, we shouldn’t see an major changes if I’ve done the work correctly. If my blog goes down for several days then you can assume the worst – LOL.

Almost there

The second pair of BBBS for SFS are complete so I can now get back to knitting the Windows sweater. The timing is good since our new furniture arrived. I’ve got several new comfy spots that are perfect for knitting. The new set even brought both cats together in agreement

I’m a little nervous about the Windows sweater because I have 2 more inches on the body and then the collar left to go and this is what I have left from the kit:

If I had known that I’d have so much left over of the black I would have made the cuffs all black instead of striped like the directions. It’s too late now unless I perform some miracle kitchner magic to cut and redo the ribbing sections. I’m just really glad I made the medium size and not the large.

Surprise!

My friends threw a surprise baby shower for me on Superbowl Sunday and I have to show the knitting/crafting highlights.

This is a picture of the diaper cake, boo-bunnies, and sock-flowers that Dawn and Kim made for me:

The little guy on top is a gherkin – cute! Apparently the sock flowers were a structural challenge, but well worth the effort. They turned out great!

Here’s a closeup of the gherkin sitting on the fleece blanket Kimi made. She makes a lot of these for her family at Christmas time, and now one for my family :)

Fellow SnBer Heather made her first item with cables – watch out knitting world she’s fearless! This hat is so soft, I bet the baby will cry without it.

Another SnBer, Audrey, somehow managed to knit this adorable baby cardi on short notice and working a crazy hectic work schedule. She has such great taste in yarns, color, and patterns – truly amazing work.

Sleepin’ and Flyin’

Well… I haven’t picked up the needles is several days. I got a cold on Monday that really has knocked me off my feet. I stayed home from work two days this week and literally did nothing but sleep. It’s nothing special for a cold, just that I can’t take any of the normal goodies to get rid of it. It’s been like trying to treat a migraine with baby aspirin. I’m very glad I got my flu shot back in the fall.

So on Friday I’ll be at week 36 and going to the doctor every week. That means the gherkin can safely arrive 2-6 weeks from now. Time sure has gone by fast!
