I made the cut…

After weeks and weeks of putting it off I finally mustered up the courage to cut the steeks in my Windows sweater.  Really it was the cut for the neck line that was holding me back. The straight cut for the sleeves seemed like a no brainer and after this test swatch I felt a lot better about the neck cut.

The edges seemed very stable on the swatch so I went ahead and made the runs of stitching on the big sweater:

… and I am very pleased with the results:

I did stitch in both of the sleeves, but they pucker a bit and fit just a tad too snug so I’m going to take them out and rip back.  This time I’ll make the increases faster and make the whole sleeve another two inches wider.   The fit on the rest of the sweater is really good – the body is the right width and the length is just about perfect.   It took me 2 attempts at binding off the shoulders to get the pattern to match up correctly.  I’m very pleased with the way this sweater is turning out.

I caught this commercial one afternoon while watching Mythbuster’s – and just about fell off the couch laughing.

Where did the time go?

Well the 8 weeks at home with the gherkin went way to fast.  Now I’m back to work and saying things are hectic is a huge understatement.  I’ve barely knit anything this while time – just a few rows on a pair of socks while I’m the bus commuting to work.

The baby is getting bigger and stronger everyday.  She’s started smiling and cooing and things at day care are going well.  I’m just sad that I only get about an hour after we get home before she is ready to fall alseep for the night.  Then again… I’m about ready to go to sleep by then too – I’ve been sick forever it seems.
