Well I was off to a good start - First I got the fruit loops disaster untangled and rewound.

Second, I was really cruising along on the Windows sweater before I ran into technical difficulties. Here it is before the holiday weekends:

I've finished both of the sleeves and I have about 6 more inches to go on the body. I've had to put it aside since my new needles are... well... on the disabled list. I had purchase the Knit Picks Options set specifically to work on this sweater. I wasn't sure which size cables I was going to need and after I did the math it came out better to get the set than to buy more Addis in size 8. Just my luck that the only size in the entire set that has stripped threads is the size 8. I managed to make it work with the one 40 inch cable that wasn't too loose until the cable came out of it's socket. I tried gluing the cable back into the socket, but that didn't last either.

I did write to KnitPicks customer service and they asked me which parts I specifically needed replaced. I replied, but I haven't heard back - no idea if or when the replacements might arrive. I'll keep you posted. I really hope this story has a happy ending.

Good news - KnitPicks sent me the replacement tips that I needed to keep working on the windows sweater. I hope to get back to that by next weekend.

While it was on hiatus I was working on these...

These are for the group Socks-For-Solders and are affectionately know as the Big Black Boot Socks.

Take a closer look at that measuring tape - these babies need to be at least 12 inches long before starting the heel flap - 15 inches in all.

This pair was knit with Wildfoote on a size 1 needle. I worked on them exclusively for about 2 weeks. I've started working on a second pair in Regia 6-ply on size 2.5 needles that are going a lot faster, but still seem never ending. The group moderator sent me a nice prize package for being the 700th member to join the group. The package had the Regia, a pair of size 1 and 2.5 needles, stitch markers, and some extra yarn to make leisure socks for a soldier's care package. It's a nice group - supporting the troops without funding and without an agenda.
